CHAMP has a new home at the Brunswick Club

The legendary Brunswick Club, a former Working Mans’ Club, in St Pauls with its skittle alleys, dance hall, bars and lounges has been taken over by over thirty artists, performers, film-makers and curators for a 9-month project. Brunswick Club is now home to Bristol Experimental & Expanded Film, Residence, CHAMP and Thorny along with sound artists- in-residence Melanie Clifford and Howard Jacques who will be broadcasting their weekly show on Resonance FM from the Brunswick Club.

The project will be a catalyst for collaboration across art forms providing much needed rehearsal space to the performance collectives, studio and project spaces, a photochemical darkroom and sound studio, installation and exhibition space. Expect a rolling programme of performances and happenings, sonic experimentation, artists’ films and queer nights.

Bristol Experimental Expanded Film (BEEF) is an experimental film and sound collective.

THORNY are a family of makers, performers and promoters.

Residence is a live art and performance collective.

Bermuda Triangle Test Transmission Broadcasts are Melanie Clifford & Howard Jacques.

champ at bristol biennial 2016: in other worlds

CHAMP are very pleased and excited to announce our involvement with Bristol Biennial 2016.

2nd-10th September 2016 Bristol (UK) & Vaasa (Finland)

CHAMP and Carina Ahlskog are coming together across International Waters to create a collaborative improvised artwork as part of the Bristol Biennial 2016 programme. The work explores the limits of physical boundaries and borders and aims to overcome the restrictions of these through the vastness of the World Wide Web. Proving that Art is borderless, boundless and limitless (with a Wi-Fi connection).

Join CHAMP and Carina as we leave the safety of a concrete outcome and embark on a voyage of (F)Lawless adventure.

Supported by Bothnia Biennale.

Associate Producer Catherine Bourne.

champ comes to supernormal 2016

CHAMP presents: Meet the Puppets

 – a participatory puppet and noise making workshop where you can explore your inner wild(er)ness through the power of sacred JUJU and rollicking role-play. Using the absurdity of newly-conceived characters to delve into the hidden depths of the cosmos and accelerate, participants will fast track beyond reality to connect with that which is (((beyond))).

At the end of the session, festival goers are invited to join CHAMP as they lead a procession around the site with a motley crew of collected musicians and noise-makers.

SUPERNORMAL is a three-day, experimental arts and music festival taking place at Braziers Park in Oxfordshire. It offers a platform for artists, performers and musicians to work collaboratively and creatively for a new kind of audience seeking experiences out of the mainstream. It is determinedly small and intimate with an audience of 1,500 and has been born from a place that values the currency of ideas and imagination rather than commercialism and profit.
